Generics

Our generic products are focused on oncology. A generic is described as a pharmaceutical, whose active ingredient is no longer protected by a patent. It can hence be marketed as a copy of an already existing branded product. A generic is equivalent in its therapeutic effectiveness and safety and does not come short in any way to the original product. Generics are cheaper than their original counterparts as the research and development costs have already been amortized.

As a result the generics market has continuously shown double digit growth figures in the past years. Germany is amongst the most important 8 markets world-wide and is in this listing on rank 2 behind the USA. During the past 12 years, Germany has developed to one of the most generics friendly countries in the world. One can speak of a triumphal procession of these cost efficient and high quality alternatives in Germany. Just in 2009, health insurers in Germany were able to save almost eight billion Euros due to generics, as those were being prescribed instead of the much more expansive original product. Doctors trust in these products mainly due to two reasons: On one hand these products are well known and have proven their effectiveness over years, on the other hand they are highly modern. Hence generics are continuously growing in importance in the oncological therapy. Two thirds of all chronically ill patients worldwide can already successfully be treated with generic pharmaceuticals. The generics are manufactured at notable contract manufacturers. Through this, HAEMATO PHARM AG has been able to successfully offer generics in the fields of zytostatika and antidota for years for various therapies in oncological treatment.

In the period 2009 – 2013 new active ingredients, with a sales volume of above 4,5 billion Euros, will be available for generic products due to expiry of patent protection.
